WHICH DEVICE SHOULD I USE FOR VAUXHALL TPMS SYSTEMS?

All ATEQ tools are compatible with Vauxhall original sensors. Many devices also program universal aftermarket sensors to be fitted in Vauxhall vehicles. To reset or to relearn the Vauxhall TPMS ECU, an OBD capable TPMS tool is recommended. This is to avoid long manual relearn procedures or to drive the car in case of Auto Relearn.

ATEQ VT56 TPMS TOOL for VAUXHALL
The ATEQ VT56 is the all-in-one comprehensive TPMS tool with coverage for all Vauxhall vehicles on the UK market. It also covers all PSA brands (Citroen, Peugeot, DS, Opel), as well as all other TPMS equipped vehicles on the market. With its OBDII module and advanced features, the tool acts as a full diagnostic tool for all TPMS maintenance. Use the ATEQ VT56 to reset any Vauxhall vehicle’s ECU in less than 2 minutes.

REPLACING A TPMS SENSOR ON A VAUXHALL VEHICLE

When a Vauxhall TPMS sensor is broken or does not respond anymore, it is time to replace it. Go to the Part Number Lookup menu in the ATEQ TPMS tool menu, to find the right Original Equipement spare part replacement number for Vauxhall. Another alternative is to program a universal sensor. A TPMS programming tool such as the VT36, VT46 and the VT56 allows to program over 10 brands of universal sensors.
See this video about TPMS sensor programming here.

ARE VAUXHALL VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH DIRECT OR INDIRECT TPMS SYSTEMS?

Most Vauxhall vehicles use direct TPMS systems. Direct TPMS systems, used in for example the Vauxhall Astra, Vauxhall Insignia and Vauxhall Mokka, use TPMS sensors inside the wheel to report pressure data to the vehicle’s ECU in real time. Direct systems are more accurate and reliable to indicate which tire is underinflated. The Indirect TPMS system utilizes the ABS system to monitor the speed of the wheel and communicate to the ECU. Vauxhall vehicles – such as the Vauxhall Combo Life; Vauxhall Corsa F, Vauxhall Crossland X; Vauxhall Grandland X and Vauxhall Vivaro – use indirect systems. Indirect systems are less reliable since they cannot tell the driver which tire is low on pressure, and won’t warn the driver if all four tires are losing pressure at the same time.

When using a tool such as the VT56 from ATEQ, the tool clearly describes all TPMS relearn methods – even the indirect!

How do I reset the VAUXHALL TPMS ECU?

HOW TO PERFORM AN INDIRECT TPMS RELEARN PROCEDURE ON A VAUXHALL?

Vauxhall uses indirect TPMS in very few cars. This basic system, uses wheel rotation monitoring and often ABS wheel speed sensor information to establish if there is a pressure issue or a puncture. It is necessary to reinitialise the system every time one or more tyre pressures are adjusted, and after changing one or more wheels. The process varies from one Vauxhall vehicle to the other. To quickly find the reinitialisation processes for all Vauxhall vehicles, even the INDIRECT, professionals can use an ATEQ VT56 TPMS tool. It contains step-by-step instructions, for all Vauxhall and other PSA vehicles.

WHICH TPMS RESET PROCEDURE FOR VAUXHALL?

Most Vauxhall vehicles make use a TPMS system which requires a Manual Relearn Procedure. To go faster, and avoid driving the vehicle for up to 10 minutes, professionals can use a tool with OBDII capability such as the ATEQ VT56. OBD relearn saves time and confusion for the technician since there are less steps to perform. All Vauxhall vehicles with Direct TPMS, can be relearned via OBDII, using the ATEQ VT56. At 90%, ATEQ has the largest percentage of OBD relearn protocols in their TPMS tools than any other TPMS tool company. A few Vauxhall vehicles make use of an Auto Relearn procedure, such as the Vauxhall Zafira (- 2019). However, to avoid driving the car after having changed the sensor, it is also possible to use a OBDII enabled TPMS tool, such as the ATEQ VT56.

Not sure which relearn procedure to adopt? When using a tool such as the VT56 from ATEQ, the tool clearly describes all TPMS relearn methods – even the indirect!
