WHICH DEVICE SHOULD I USE FOR AUDI TPMS SYSTEMS?

All ATEQ tools are compatible with Audi original sensors. Many devices also program universal aftermarket sensors to be fitted in Audi vehicles. To reset or to relearn the Audi TPMS ECU use any ATEQ TPMS tool, such as the ATEQ VT36 or ATEQ VT56. It is required to drive the car in case of Auto Relearn.

ATEQ VT56 TPMS TOOL for AUDI
The ATEQ VT56 is the all-in-one comprehensive TPMS tool with coverage for all TPMS enabled vehicles in Europe, but also imported vehicles from America. It covers all Audi and Volkswagen group passenger vehicle brands, as well as all other TPMS equipped vehicles on the market. With its OBDII module and advanced features, the tool acts as a full diagnostic tool for all TPMS maintenance. Find out more about the ATEQ VT56 here.
ATEQ VT36 TPMS TOOL for AUDI

ATEQ VT36 is a TPMS activation and programming tool with coverage for all Audi vehicles. For TPMS relearn the VT36 can be used in conjunction with a diagnostic scan tool or the relearn instructions in the car user manual can be followed. Find out more about VT36 TPMS tool on this page.

What happens when a TPMS sensor Is faulty or damaged?

REPLACING A TPMS SENSOR ON A AUDI VEHICLE

When a Audi TPMS sensor is broken or does not respond anymore, it is time to replace it. Go to the Part Number Lookup menu in the ATEQ TPMS tool menu, to find the right Original Equipement spare part replacement number for Audi. Another alternative is to program a universal sensor. A TPMS programming tool such as the VT36, VT46 and the VT56 allows to program over 10 brands of universal sensors. See this video about programming a TPMS sensor.

ARE AUDI VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH DIRECT OR INDIRECT TPMS SYSTEMS?

There are two basic types of tire pressure monitor systems installed in Audi passenger cars: The first type called Indirect TPMS, works off the ABS system and uses no additional sensors. If the wheel sensors detect that one wheel’s diameter is smaller it assumes that the tire has lost air and trips the low pressure warning. The other type, called DIRECT TPMS uses wireless TPMS sensors to directly measure air and temperature in the wheels and transmits the data to the car’s computer. The advantage of the direct sensors is that it’s more accurate. The battery life of TPMS sensors is about 6-9 years depending on use. It is complex to know whether a vehicle is equipped with INDIRECT or DIRECT TPMS. Use a tool such as the VT56 from ATEQ. The tool clearly indicates the right TPMS system for each car model and year. The ATEQ VT56 also provides step-by-step reset instructions – even for the indirect TPMS systems!

How do I reset the AUDI TPMS ECU?

HOW TO PERFORM AN INDIRECT TPMS RELEARN PROCEDURE ON A AUDI?

Audi uses indirect TPMS in many of its cars. This basic system, uses wheel rotation monitoring and often ABS wheel speed sensor information to establish if there is a pressure issue or a puncture. It is necessary to reinitialise the system every time one or more tyre pressures are adjusted, and after changing one or more wheels. The process varies from one Audi vehicle to the other. To quickly find the relearn procedures for all Audi vehicles, even the INDIRECT, professionals can use an ATEQ VT56 TPMS tool. It contains step-by-step instructions, for all TPMS equipped vehicles – direct or indirect.

HOW TO RESET THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT ON A AUDI WITH INDIRECT TPMS?

First of all, ensure that you have inflated the tires on your Audi vehicle to the proper air pressure. Without starting the car, turn the key to the “On” position. Press the TPMS reset button and hold it until the light blinks three times, then release it. Start the Audi car and let it run for 20 minutes to reset the sensor. You’ll usually find the tire pressure monitor reset button beneath the steering wheel. If you are unable to find it, refer to the detailed relearn instructions on the ATEQ VT56 tool, or check your vehicle’s owner’s manual.
